Easy Points To Get Ready For An Earthquake

By Steven K. Conlan

All thanks to inept human activities, the ecological balance has been disturbed and that too in a crucial way. Natural catastrophes like earthquakes have become normal as a result of this upsetting of ecological balance. Every other day, some or the other country is being hit by an earthquake leading to the death of numerous humans. With earthquakes becoming a standard phenomenon, it might be wise if all prepare ourselves for the same.

The first step towards safeguarding yourself in the event of an earthquake is usually to bring together a first aid kit. Injuries can't be neglected and require immediate treatment. Nevertheless, regular 1st aid kits with their basic band aids and gauzes may not be very effective for wounds inflicted by this natural disaster. In fact, a few people might also store skincare solutions such as the Exposed Skin care System in their 1st aid kit. Needless to say, this too will not help in case of an earthquake.

Instead, you need a 'real' first aid which will help you till the time the ambulance reaches you. Ideally, the first aid kit should involve trauma dressings, CPR barrier mask, 4X4 gauze dressings, gauze rolls, paramedic scissors and the like. In case, you're struggling from high blood pressure, ensure that you have your blood pressure medications too as your BP is certain to shoot up at the onset of an earthquake.

Another very successful and vital tool for an earthquake is the utility shutoff tool. It is vital for you to control your water meters and gas to minimize harm during this cataclysm. Gas and water leaks are usual after effects of an earthquake and they may result in fires and explosions in case not managed in time. Check the gas meter dials for any signs of a leak. You might also use a non-sparking metal tool to turn off both gas and water meters.

Another thing that may help you get ready for an earthquake is to keep stored water handy. Drinking water may not come to your mind instantly after an earthquake. But, what if you remain stuck in your house after an earthquake for a long time? It's in this time that stored water will come to your aid. Make it a point to store water in abundance. In fact, store water with a rough estimate that one person would require nearly 1 gallon of water on a daily basis.

If you could afford it, you can even look at hiring a private aircraft as a measure against natural disasters. On the event of an earthquake, you'll be able to fly away from the location of the catastrophe. However, in case this appears to be an impractical idea, the other mentioned ideas will help you prepare just as well for an earthquake.
