Mount Kilimanjaro offers the adventure of a lifetime. Its terrain is challenging and it peaks at a very high altitude. A serious adventurer will have this mountain climbing activity in his bucket list. To be able to make it to the top successfully and descend to the bottom requires a good deal of fitness. Thus, training for Kilimanjaro is essential. This will need a good deal of aerobic exercises. These help to strengthen the heart. One should also build strength and endurance. These two are important ingredients of success.

The most important thing is to plan for the whole affair. One should come up with a list of the activities that he will be performing each day of the week. If one does not plan, he is simply planning to fail. There is need to have fitness goals that are specific, measurable, analytic, realistic and related to a particular period. Smart goals will facilitate success.

Climbing a treacherous mountain is all about power, strength and endurance. One will get all this from a weight lifting regiment. A good gym has all the necessary equipment for muscle building. One should train a specific body part, each day of the week. Saturdays and Sundays are time to rest. Muscle creation occurs during rest and recovery not when exercising.

There are fitness activities that a person can do from the comfort of home without the need for any equipment. These include push ups and press-ups. These simple measures facilitate fitness. Actually, they do not require any financial investment. The goal of a person should be giving the body sufficient resistance when one is doing a particular type of exercise.

Other activities that will help include running, swimming and hiking. Running facilitates aerobic and cardiovascular conditioning that helps in facilitating successful mountaineering. Running on trails and significant hills will have a good deal of benefits. Mountain biking is also highly advisable. One should ride a bike uphill on a rough terrain for a significant period. Running or hiking up the stairs also develops the body.

Mountaineering requires the right state of mind and top physical fitness. These two factors are paramount to the success of a mountaineering expedition. One needs the willpower to reach the top and descend to the bottom of the mountain. Above all, an individual will need the physical ability to implement the desires of his willpower. The ability of the body to endure hard conditions matters.
