A procedure should be followed to protect both parties and to make sure that everyone gets what they are after. There are great advantages to employing people from other countries but there can also be pitfalls and dangers if you are not careful.

People are very willing to leave the country of their birth for a number of reasons. Working overseas can provide a wealth of experience they would not necessarily pick up at home. Some countries have an excess of special skills in some industries and are lacking in others. To hire these employees can be mutually beneficial and ensure a more even distribution of critical skills.

You need to hire employees who are trustworthy above everything. Always check their references properly, and where possible it may be advisable to work through a placement agent, to make sure there is a level of accountability if something does go wrong.

Your ideal candidates should have the right kind of education required for the job. They should be qualified and skilled for the position and should have experience working within a similar role. Those aspects should not be negotiable. You do not want the trouble and expense of bringing someone in from another country if they cannot do the job.

Always look at references and previous employers when you are on the lookout to hire these employees. Some people are capable of bluffing their levels of knowledge and people can commit fraud by counterfeiting qualifications. If you are not employing on the basis of them introducing an international language to your institution make sure that they can speak English properly.

Personality traits are also quite important to make sure you get the right balance of employees for your institution. They must have a positive attitude towards their job and be happy to go the extra mile. They must be able to integrate into the new position with ease and show some adaptability. If you need someone to be a leader they should follow their own initiative.
