Five Things To Do In Arlington During Your Super Bowl XLV Stay

By Landry Aikman

If you have just finalized your Super Bowl travel packages for the up and coming NFL games in Arlington, you will be glad to learn that this exciting city offers lots to see and do. It is one of the USA's biggest cities and the seventh biggest in the state of Texas. The population is around 400,000. Let's take a look at five of its most popular tourist attractions.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is a gigantic theme park offering visitors water thrills and spills of monstrous proportions. The newest addition is the Mega Wedgie. The water slide is four stories high and has a width of 83 feet. Feel a sense of zero gravity as you get propelled down the slide with spray jets at speeds of up to 23 mhp. The rides at Hooks Lagoon are ideal for little kids, while adults and older kids will love Der Stuka, an all-time favorite.

If you are traveling with a big family, perhaps the action on offer at the Randol Mill Family Aquatic center will suit you better. Every age-group is catered for at this interactive water park. It has a variety of pools, a current channel, a shallow water play area, an exciting water slide and vortex pools. Enjoy a picnic or a barbecue at one of the designated sites.

Other amenities include showers, deck furniture and two shady pavilions. All the outdoor pools are available for hire on Thursdays and Sundays for family gatherings and private parties. So, if you all want to let your hair down, this is a perfect option. Lifeguards are on duty all the time. If you do want to hire a pool, make sure you place your booking 72 hours beforehand.

No visit to Arlington is complete without catching Johnnie Hall's Country Music Revue. This weekly variety show is held in the Arlington Music Hall. It all began in 1974 when songwriter, singer and musician, Johnnie High, bought an old cinema and transformed it into Arlington Music Hall which can seat 1200 people.

Since 1974, every Saturday night performance has been a sell-out. These fabulous Country and Western nights provide entertainment for 9 to 90 year-olds. Among the regular performers are eight singers, back-up singers and a brilliant band of accomplished musicians. At least 25 new performers take to the stage every month. Country music fans from all over the world come to these shows.

Tenpin bowling, one of America's most popular sports, has a fascinating history spanning more than 5,000 years. This is all encompassed at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. You can see many interesting artifacts and learn how the sport dates back to the Ancient Egyptians. This amazing museum will be appreciated even by those who are not tenpin enthusiasts.

Last, but by no means least, all Super Bowl travel packages should include a tour of the incredible Cowboys Stadium. Home to the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, it is the biggest domed stadium in the entire world. A highlight is the giant HD television screen which is affectionately known as 'Jerry-Tron'. It was installed in 2009 and has a total area of 11,520 square feet, making it the biggest in the world.
