Pump paintball has made a quantum leap back into paintball. A while back the only people you would find still using a pump were complete newbs toting Brass Eagle Talons. Thankfully, things are different today, and pump paintball is miraculously alive and well in many paintballers lives.

If you ever considered getting into this slower yet still challenging format, now's the time. The odds of you finding a pump action marker you like are high.

Before you go looking at all of the available gear, lets take a look at what you'll need. You most likely have heard of the below items, but read into each description so you can get the names of preferred pump gear.

1. Hopper - a good pump hopper will often be gravity fed. Some players choose to use an electronic loader, but at most all you need is a good gravity feed hopper. Another thing to note is some players prefer to use

2. Pump Gun - the two major types of pump paintball guns are stock class and open class. Stock class markers use 10+ round feed tubes and 12 gram co2 cartridges. If you want to get into stock class tournaments then you will need a stock class marker. The other option is to get a pump that uses a hopper and air tank, which is the more popular option.

3. Pod Pack - if you plan on using a 50 round hopper, then you might want to consider getting a 50 round pod pack. PB Mafia makes a good one that holds 5 50 round pods, which is perfect for those longer games.

4. Tank - while you could use just about any tank to power your pump marker, some prefer a smaller sized tank more suited for pump play. You can find such tanks made by Ninja paintball, of which are clean shooting HPA tanks, perfect for a pump.

Above are the 4 essential items you need to play pump paintball. Getting the right gear for your new pump-lifestyle is important if you want to be a serious contender on the field.
