Have You Heard Of Calphalon Cookware?

By David Maslow

You've probably seen advertisements for Calphalon products in stores or online and wondered to yourself, what makes them so different from the pans I use now? Calphalon cookware, a name made famous by its owner company Newell Rubbermaid, is special because of the way it's made. This cookware does not use Teflon for its nonstick properties, but a special process called "hard anodization."

This process includes chemicals and a series of electric shocks that fortify the aluminum. The end product is aluminum that is much tougher than regular aluminum and appropriate for cooking any meal you wish. "Hard anodization" makes the Calphalon brand cookware much less prone to scratching and corroding and also has incredible nonstick qualities. Another result of this process is that the Calphalon pans and pots are more dependable than many other brands and products.

The process of making Calphalon pans and pots seems at first glance a little frightening; however, it is completely harmless. With Calphalon there's no chance of you accidentally ingesting bits of Teflon in your food because the brand does not use any Teflon. There is also no danger of ingesting anything toxic from these pans and pots. Even at incredibly high temperatures you can expect that Calphalon pots and pans will remain strong. This is the surface that has made Calphalon products famous and valuable.

While the brand offers amazingly nonstick features for its products that top many other brand, Calphalon pots and pans are not without some minor flaws. Some advice for the owner of a new set of Calphalon pots and pans would entail the following strategies for cooking great meals and optimizing the nonstick features. The first strategy would be to allow for your freezer foods to thaw before putting them in the pot or pan. The second strategy would be to fire up stove on medium heat instead of high in order to prepare your pans ahead of cooking time. The aluminum in the pans are very effective in transferring the heat from your stove to the inside surface, making it hard to cool down once you have the heat on high.

This last tip is important to recall when you're frying your favorite foods because they will burn if the temperature is set too high. Another tip is to always wash the Calphalon cookware which will help to make your investment last and to keep your family healthy and happy.
