Getting Away On Weekend Breaks

By Jack Wogan

Going away for the weekend is a great idea, especially after an exhausting week at the office. Weekend breaks are economical and time-saving trips, and there are so many interesting locations to visit outside the big cities, just a couple hours of away. You can go alone, or with your family and children, you will find accommodation to suit your needs and plenty of activities to do over the weekend.

If you live in London, there are great destinations just around the city where you can head out for a relaxing weekend break. You can visit new places and meet new people, go to historic sites, relax in beautiful scenery.

You can choose to go on a guided trip, if you prefer an organized weekend trip; guided trips are available for most well-known destinations. If you would rather decide your own schedule, go by yourself, by car, train, or bus. Driving the car holds several advantages: you can create your own schedule, leave when you like, stop when prefer; also, you can bring along just the amount of luggage you think you need. Go by bus and you may end up losing time in traffic jams. The train will spare you of traffic jam issues and also of worrying where to park the car and how to pay the parking tax.

Pay attention when you pack your bags for the weekend; a few basic things are needed. First of all, pack your make up set and the tooth brushes; then make sure to bring appropriate clothes and footwear, and check the weather forecast before you go. Maps and a reservation copy are necessary; put them in a small backpack you can hold close; it is use useful for holding your wallet, camera, maps etc.

Some of the most popular weekend destinations around London are: Brighton, Bath, Windsor, Oxford and Cambridge, etc. Charming historic towns like Marlow set in the beautiful countryside are also near London. Marlow is a historic town set on the River Thames, a great place for weekend relaxation, to walk by river, and visit the historical buildings. Marlow hotels are modern and yet cozy; they resemble the traditional English inns, where the rooms are comfortable and the common spaces make you feel at home. The city has many restaurants and pubs downtown, within a walking distance; you can relax and dine in a traditional English country atmosphere.
