We Need To Help Stop Illegal Movie Downloads

By Polly Callahan

Illegal movie downloads have become a big problem with the use of file sharing programs and the internet. Not only are these against the law but they may cost all consumers in the long run. There are many ways you can help to stop illegal movie downloads from occurring. If you are caught downloading illegal movies you can face large fines.

If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. Remember that anytime you have a file sharing program on your computer that people may be able to get files you have stored. This includes movies and music. You could actually be letting people steal movies right from your PC without ever knowing it.

If you download movies from file sharing programs then they are usually illegal. You may save a few dollars now but it could cost you a lot more. You could face fines if you are caught and it could even raise the cost of legal movie downloads. Keep in mind that your internet address can be traced and the authorities can come to your home.

The quality of illegal movies is usually very poor. They may be grainy or only the partial movie. You may not even get the movie you wanted. You may even download the movies only to find you can't even watch them. You could also get a virus on your computer that could destroy files and crash you PC. You can avoid all of this by downloading movies from a legitimate site.

Downloading movies from a legal site is the best way to watch movies from your computer. These sites are often backed by major studios and you can be sure they are safe and that you will get the movie you want. They have everything you need right at your fingertips to watch all of the movies on their site. Even sites like Netflix are considering offering movies for download.

They also have satellite television service for your computer. You can pay a onetime fee for unlimited movies and television programs from all over the world. You can access this twenty four hours a day seven days a week. The onetime fee is usually reasonable and you get access to all of the movies you want to watch without even having to download them.

Copyright laws are still laws. These are no different than laws for drinking and driving. If you wouldn't dream of driving while intoxicated then why download illegal movies? It simply is not worth the risk you are taking just to save a few dollars. This is stealing and if it continues then movie companies may be forced to take drastic measures.

You can help stop illegal movie downloads. If you don't use the file sharing systems that allow this or even if you make certain that no one can copy movies from your computer then you become part of the solution. Remember you are also setting an example for your children; teach them to be responsible and not steal in any form.
