Thinking of Buying A Caravan?

By Sally Piper

When you have your own caravan you have the freedom to explore the country at your leisure, giving you access to a wealth of new experiences and memories. There are so many wonderful caravan sites open now that you can go from place to place without too much inconvenience.

Of course, with a caravan you're not subject to expensive flights abroad or even have to plan ahead too much, unless you want to stay at the most popular camping sites in high season. These days caravans come equipped with all mod cons so you can relax in comfort after every trip.

Of course, caravanning isn't cheap and there are lots of things you need to think about before buying your first caravan. Budget will be all important as the top of the range models will cost many thousands to but. You can still pick up smaller, older models for far less though.

Decide what you are looking for in a caravan and how much you are going to need to spend to get the kind of facilities and size of model you want.

The first thing you will need to think about is whether your current car has the power to tow a caravan. Think about who is going to drive and whether they are going to be happy towing a big caravan.

First of all, does your car have the capacity to pull a caravan? Also, are you confident and capable of driving and towing a caravan? Then, consider how many people would occupy the caravan? How often will you use the caravan? Where will you store it?

I would also recommend staying in a caravan for a few days before you buy one. I would also recommend looking back over your last year's diary. See how many opportunities you would have had to go away, and try to project how many you will have for the year to come. This is important to consider if you don't want to buy a new ornament for the driveway.

Also talk to friends and family who have caravans. Many will be more than happy to you guidance and advice.

If you do decide that buying a caravan is the best thing for you, you'll be in for some really great times.
