The Hi-Lo Country: Tale of 2 men in post-WW2 New Mexico who fall in love with the identical lady and she's already married to someone else. A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (including Harrelson's wonderful performance as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton's cinematography) that it's a pity it doesn't hit the bull's-eye and Arquette is so boring. Raintree County: Clift is a small town Hoosier who makes the blunder of wedding Southern belle Taylor before the start of the Civil War. Intense performances and memorable Johnny Green score help make up for the over-long script. Clift was maimed in near-lethal automobile mishap throughout production, and his work understandably agonizes for it. Cast includes Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, Eva Marie Savior, Lee Marvin, and Nigel Patrick. (168 minutes,'57)
Just a Little Harmless Sex: After a spouse throws her husband out of the home (because he picked up a hooker one day) their matrimony is put in emergency mode. She brings her lady friends together for guidance, and he does the same with the gentlemen. Then they all unite at a local club. This film is a somewhat amusing, low cost romantic comedy with an extremely desirable cast.
