6 Beauty Products Secrets To Make You Look Even Better

By Jessica Simpson

With all of the beauty products out on the market, it can sometimes be hard to understand how to use them correctly and get the right look that you desire. If you apply products wrong, they can actually make you look older than you are or create an odd look that will not be what you want. No one wants to look "wrong" when they put on makeup, but there are a few tips that everyone should follow when it comes to basic makeup applications. To help you figure out how to correctly use some of the basics of beauty essentials, here are 6 great tips to help:

Basic #1: Lip Gloss - This is one area where many women just glob it on and forget about it. In fact, you should wear it minimally so that you don't look like you are dripping with gloss and instead have a dewy look to your lips. One light coat should be all that you need, and there is no need to go over your lips again.

Basic #2: Lip Liners - For one of the easiest to use beauty products out there, it's also one of the most misused products there is. Many women use this as a liner instead of what it's intended for, which is to actually shade your lips. You should make sure that you only use a liner that is a shade off of the lipstick that you intend to wear as well, so that you don't end up with a vivid line and get a beautiful solid look.

Basic #3: Eye Pencils - You want to make sure that you find a soft one that will easily glide along your eyelids. Harder pencils will give you a harsh look and can hurt when you apply them. Plus, harder pencils are harder to soften when you are trying to mix colors and blend in your eyeshadow.

Basic #4: Mascara - You will find this staple of beauty products in just about every woman's makeup bag because it is easy to use and can be as dramatic or subtle as you like. But, you want to make sure to choose the right shade for your hair and skin tone, as some colors don't contrast well, which is a mistake many women make. Also, make sure that any globs that come out of the mascara are brushed out quickly so that they don't dry.

Basic #5: Eyeshadow - You want a good quality eyeshadow so that you aren't using tons of it just to see it. Also, you want to make sure that you have the right shade for your skin and eyes. Keep in mind that no matter what color your skin and eyes are, silvery eyeshadows will make your eyes look brighter and help revive bags and dark spots under your eyes.

Basic #6: Color Correctors - Many women use these incorrectly, as they are really only for those that actually have specific problems, like broken blood vessels and ruddy complexions. If used without a reason, they can really stand out and make other makeup look worse. Make sure that you read the directions and follow them closely.

When you follow these tips on using basic beauty products, it is so much easier to perfect your look and ensure that you don't look older or fall into the "wrong" category. Also, you can then build on making sure that your makeup is perfect and you don't have to worry about messing up too much any longer.
